Liposuction and liposculpture

Liposuction and liposculpture

Liposuction and liposculpture

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery to reduce the amount of body fat in localized areas, giving the patient a better body contour. The best results are obtained from liposuction where the patient is located fat. Contrary to what many think, liposuction is not made for weight loss or weight loss.
The change in the balance, after surgery, is not as large as the apparent weight loss that the patient presents postoperatively. This is due to the low weight of fat compared with other tissues (bone, muscle, etc.)..

Another consideration to be made is that the best candidates for liposuction are those patients close to ideal weight and who have localized fat and difficult loss with diet and exercise. Very overweight patients, who require loss of tissue in large areas, and have a higher surgical risk (operative time, blood loss, etc..) Are more likely to stay with irregularities and skin laxity postoperatively. In liposuction alone do not you remove the excess skin, skin removal can be associated in selected cases. The Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery provides guidance to a safe limit for removal of fat, which is around 7% of body weight.

Liposculpture is a cosmetic surgery to reduce the amount of body fat in localized areas and part of the aspirated fat grafting is used for areas that need more padding (as gluteus and furrows of the face), giving the patient a better body contour . The best results are obtained in lipoesculturas wherein the patient has localized fat. Contrary to what many think, liposuction is not done, such as liposuction for weight loss. The change in the balance after the surgery is not as large as the apparent weight loss that the patient presents postoperatively. This is due to the low weight of fat compared with other tissues (bone, muscle, etc.)..
Another consideration to be made is that the best candidates for liposuction are those patients close to ideal weight and who have localized fat and difficult loss diets and just fill in other parts of the body such as the buttocks.

Anesthesia – General or epidural anesthesia.

Hospitalization – Depending on the extent of the area vacuumed and the type of anesthesia the hospital stay can range from a few hours to 1 day.

In the first few weeks or even months, these areas, in addition to being subject to periods of swelling, may present some points denser than others (lump). These are usually only detected by palpation and tend to disappear after 30. month. Over the months, having done the proper lymphatic drainage and exercises oriented modeling disappear parties dense and nodular. The stitches are removed in 7 to 14 days. Can be pain for 1 day or two that is controlled with prescription painkillers. After a few days, the bandages are removed. The use of a special surgical tape must be used 24 hours a day for 45 to 60 days.

Final Result
Will be gradually reached the final result. Should never be regarded as a definitive result before 6-12 months postoperatively.
Ideal Age
There is no ideal age, but each patient detects the moment when their self-esteem and psychosocial life will be compromised.

The scars resulting from liposuction are minimal, located on various parts of the body to allow access to the areas to be operated. Their size varies between 5-8 mm and are designed to be unobtrusive

Time of Surgery
Depending on the extent of the areas to be treated, the time varies from 1 to 3 hours may be exceeded in some cases.

Lymphatic drainage

Lymph: liquid between the cells which has a composition similar to blood plasma but not blood cells possesses. Lymph is composed of a combination of protein, urea, lymphocytes and minerals. When the circulatory system does not fulfill its function properly, the body is overloaded by an excess of liquid can not absorb. In most cases, this phenomenon is reflected by symptoms such as cellulite or fluid retention, heaviness in the legs or appearance of edema (swelling). In such cases, one can make use of manual lymphatic drainage, which acts as a method to reduce lymph edema, postoperative swelling, cellulitis, fluid retention, acne, and other problems.

How It Works: The method brings several beneficias the body, besides being a great ally in aesthetic treatments, especially against cellulite and localized fat. Lymphatic drainage ultrasound physical therapy is a method that uses devices with emission wavelengths and intensity adjustable. Drainage linfárica manual is a specialized massage, performed by pressure with the fingers or hands, smooth, slow and relaxing. The use of the technique requires knowledge of the theoretical aspects of the method, as well as handling practices should not be confused with conventional massage. The lymphatic system is slow and filtering one to two liters of fluid per day.

The drains in the Postoperative Period: The manual lymphatic drainage is the most recommended in post-cosmetic surgery, for example, in surgical liposuction and liposculpture, accelerating postoperative recovery, avoiding possible fibrosis and edema.

The use of manual lymphatic drainage – before and after surgery – always allow better results. Therefore, surgeons, physiotherapists and beauticians recommend treatment as adjuvant in aesthetic surgery.

In the preoperative period, drainage helps activate lymphatic circulation in the area that will be operated, especially when the patient has a slow movement. In the post-surgical recovery, the technique is used to drain smoothly edema, promote and accelerate the regeneration and repair of the skin and other tissues affected.

It is important to remember that the lymphatic drainage should be practiced by professionals. If the place where the treatment is applied become swollen or painful, is a sign that the drain is not being applied correctly.

The scars resulting from cosmetic surgery are planned to stay in disguise and go through several stages of evolution, which didactically divided in three different times.

Immediate Period: Follow up to the 30th day. The scar presents with great respect and barely visible. Some cases have a mild reaction to the stitches or bandages.

Period Mediato: Follows the 30th day until the 12th month. In this period there will be a natural thickening of the scar, as well as changes in its color, from “red” to “green”, that will gradually clearing. This period is the least unfavorable stage, is what most worries the patients. How we can hasten the natural healing process, we recommend that patients do not worry, because the late period the task of reducing the scar remains. During this period, several treatments may be performed to improve the appearance of scars and uses silicone gel, silicone plascas, use of topical steroids and injections of steroids in the scar itself, as well as apicação laser on the scar.
Late Period: Follows from the 12th to 18th month. In this period, the scar will become clearer and less consistently reaching thus its final appearance. Any evaluation of the result definiitivo surgery should be made after this period.

Unsightly scars, Hypertrophic and keloid

The unsightly scars, hypertrophic and keloid are amenable to further surgical revisions, should it be necessary.
This happens due to anomalies in the healing that can occur in certain patients for genetic causes inflammation or infection or postoperative (less common causes).

The correction can be done through a minor surgery under local anesthesia, after a few months of evolution.

Keloid scarring, can be treated with betatherapy to minimize risk of recurrence.
